Kate is a lifelong language and culture enthusiast with a decade of technical writing and communications experience, and over four years of experience as a language educator and translator. Kate also has experience in training linguistic AI models, but absolutely still gets frustrated when Siri doesn’t understand what she’s saying. Kate received her undergraduate degree in Spanish and Language Sciences from Virginia Tech and her Master’s degree in Linguistics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her theses focused on how linguistic diversity affects the way in which we perceive others (and ourselves!), and the effectiveness of linguistic education in altering these perceptions.
